The Monção Alvarinho Fair, usually held on the first weekend of July, is an event dedicated to promoting and selling Alvarinho wine.
Over the course of three days, Parque das Caldas, the incredible setting that hosts the event and identifies and distinguishes it from others, is visited by more than 100,000 people from all over the world who come to Monção wanting to feel the atmosphere and spirit of this unique event in the country.
This event brings together around a hundred exhibitors, including wine producers, taverns, smokehouses, cheese and traditional sweets, handicraft exhibitors, social, cultural and sporting institutions and official sponsors. There will also be a restaurant area, where some of the county’s restaurants will be present and the typical Monção dish “Foda à Monção” will be promoted, a lounge area, a children’s area, an area for Eprami.com, a tasting room, an area for cooking workshops, a medical center and an information point.
To accompany the Alvarinho and the traditional delicacies, the organization has planned entertainment and social activities. In addition to regional folklore, bombos, concertinas, cavaquinhos and charangas, there will be musical groups and DJs.
“Portugal’s Biggest Wine Party”, as it is known, given its uniqueness, aims, above all, to defend and value Alvarinho wine, reinforcing its status as a strategic instrument in the region’s economic competitiveness, and to constitute a space for publicizing the region’s business and associative activity, serving as a “showcase” for boosting the rural world and presenting, valuing and marketing local and regional products/articles.
